Drawn From Life: Drawings & Paintings
May - July 1993
Warner Roberts Gallery, Palo Alto, CA

Drawing, for me, is to abstract what I see and feel by making flat marks and shapes on the page. The drawing is successful when those marks capture the essential elements of the subject without distraction. The constant challenge is to choose wisely from all of the information directly drawn from life.

Painting’s task is to enhance the basic structure of the drawing with additional color and texture.

I use a variety of drawing and painting techniques to in order to provide suitable graphic strength and emotional solidity to each subject.
