Anatomy of a commission: Creating the final artwork
Once approved, I transfered the full-scale composition onto four 7-foot-long primed wooden panels. Using acrylic paint allowed me to block in, correct and complete the painting quickly. The finished panels were coated with an anti-UV varnish and prepared for hanging with french cleats.
Hanging the final artwork on Saturday, it was unveiled the next Monday at a special office-wide breakfast. Everyone seemed pleased with the new addition to their workplace.
