On one of the few published maps of the Cordillera Huayhuash this mountain was marked as a ski area! Never mind that the trail could not handle anything more mechanical than a burro. Or, that at a height of over 15,000 feet, there might be a few problems with exerting oneself athletically. So, a cartographer with a peculiar sense of humor or an over-enthusiastic Minister of Touristic Development? Just another mystery of the Huayhuash... |
