After climbing to our northern-most pass of Canapunta (15,584 feet), we headed down the eastern side of the Cordillera Huayhuash. Now we saw the backsides of the snowy giants we had seen from the front two days earlier. Reaching camp in the late afternoon, some of the toughest trekkers bathed in the glacier-fed lake. The rest of us settled for rinsing out a few clothes. . . |
