SOLO EXHIBITIONS > From a Traveler's Sketchbook: Peru's Cordillera Huayhuash

Nevados at Sunset, 17 August 2001 acrylic on panel, 80" x 28", 2002
The snowy peak of Rondoy (19,289 feet) burst into a fiery display high above our camp by Laguna Jahuacocha (13,287 feet). As the sun left the shoreline, the temperature dropped twenty degrees in as many minutes! Almost every morning of the trek we awoke to ice sheeting our tents, but would usually hike in pleasant temperatures. Some opted for hiking in shorts but I noted that our local guides always wore long pants!
